Job description

We’re seeking an established California Water Conveyance Practice Leader to support delivering world‑class water storage projects for our municipal, private, and agricultural clients and may report to any of our California offices (Carlsbad, Pasadena, Bakersfield, Davis, Sacramento, or Oakland). This successful candidate will have entrepreneurial skills and abilities that are aligned with GEI’s Strategic Plan.

As a California Water Conveyance Practice Leader, you will work in collaboration with our Western Region Growth Leader and Marketing team to develop and implement a water conveyance growth strategy for California. This effort includes retaining and building a team of water conveyance engineers and planners to deliver our clients’ most challenging projects and to foster the growth of our California water conveyance team. You will also be responsible for understanding the unique trends in the market and using that knowledge to work with our team to create technical differentiation from that of our competitors while serving as an important conduit between our National Water Leaders, Operations leadership and practice managers and staff in the western region of GEI.

We’ll also rely on you to lead business development activities with key clients resulting in acquisition of new projects as well as perform the role of Project Manager supporting various projects and programs within a defined client portfolio. You’ll effectively lead and manage project teams throughout all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout; consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements stated in each contract.

Using your water conveyance technical expertise, you’ll play an integral role in leading and mentoring staff, forming long‑term relationships with clients and pursuing new work, including strategy development, positioning, proposing, and negotiating contracts.
