Job summary

Havasu Landing Resort and Casino is seeking a Water and Sewer Operator/Trainee 1 to support the Chemehuevi Community. Under direct supervision, you will perform semi-skilled and technical duties to ensure safe drinking water and proper sewer operations.

The role requires a High School Diploma, valid driver’s license, and Grade I Operator Certification, with the ability to travel and be on call 24/7. Duties include meter readings, maintenance, and on-call emergency response.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Possess Grade I Operator Certification.
• Ability to travel and attend evening/weekend meetings.
• On-call 24 hours.
• Able to lift 75 pounds.
• Basic math skills required.
• Knowledge of water/sewer system operations.

Responsibilities

• Read meters monthly to determine water usage for billing.
• Take daily/weekly readings as required by supervisor and EPA guidelines.
• Develop list of parts and equipment needed to maintain systems.
• Available for emergency situations 24 hours a day.
• Maintain sewer pumps, water pumps, lift stations and distribution lines daily.
• Perform preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned.
• Assist with other department tasks as needed.

WATER AND SEWER OPERATOR/TRAINEE 1

STATUS: Permanent/Full time/Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Water

REPORTS TO: Water Department Manager

MINIMUM SALARY: $16.25 - $ 17.00 D.O.E.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direct supervision of the Department Supervisor, the Water and Sewer Operator performs a variety of semi-skilled and technical work to provide safe drinking water to the Chemehuevi Community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read meters on a monthly basis to determine water usage for billing.
• Take daily and weekly readings as required by department supervisor and EPA guidelines.
• Develop list of parts and equipment needed to keep all water and sewer systems in proper working order at all times.
• Available for emergency situations 24 hours a day.
• Maintain sewer pumps, water pumps, at lift stations and all distribution lines on a daily basis.
• Other preventive maintenance and operation of water and sewer systems and duties assigned by the department supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.
