Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Temporary Water Aerobics Instructor to lead structured water fitness sessions for adults, older adults, and teens. Responsibilities include guiding classes, assisting with participant evaluations, and upholding a safe, inclusive environment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and multiple fitness certifications, with strong communication and leadership skills. Preference for morning availability; position is temporary and on‑site with the RPCA

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience or equivalent.
• Must obtain Water Aerobics Instruction certification within 60 days of employment.
• Current Water Aerobics Instruction certification required.
• Two (2) or more years of experience instructing group fitness or wellness programs.
• CPR and First Aid certification are required.
• Knowledge of fitness assessment techniques and evidence‑based health practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead water aerobics classes and maintain structured curricula.
• Assist with participant evaluations and progress tracking.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming class environment.
• Collaborate with City staff to support program success.
• Expand access to high‑quality wellness programming for the community.
