Job summary

Kleptz YMCA in Englewood, OH is seeking a part-time Water Aerobics Instructor to lead and motivate group water exercise classes. You will ensure safety, maintain equipment, and promote YMCA programs to members and participants.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required. 2-year college degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science/related field or applicable experience is preferred.
• Minimum of six months class participation experience or fitness class assistant and a high level of interest in the fitness field.

• Communicates and enforces wellness center rules at participants’ comprehension level.
• Trains participants in a manner that is demonstrative and professional.
• Watches and corrects participants when exercising in an unsafe manner.
• Promotes wellness and other YMCA programs.
• Arrives 10 to 15 minutes prior to class starting to start assigned duties.
• Sets up and takes down class equipment.
• Begins and ends every class on time.
• Takes attendance of class each time class is held.
• Ensures participants are registered appropriately.
• Educates members and program participants on appropriate attire for group exercise classes.
• Teaches entire session of classes and may sub for others.

Responsible providing excellent and safe instruction, motivation, and support to YMCA members and program participants in group exercise programs, and for the cleanliness and general upkeep of the water exercise area(s).

• Exercises regularly to maintain fitness level (strength and endurance).
• Inspects all equipment used for safety hazards, damage or wear.
• Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
• Communicates any suggestions to improve the programs within the pool area.
• Maintains cleanliness of the water aerobics equipment through routine cleaning schedule and according to association guidelines.
