Manson Construction Co. seeks an Assistant Engineer to act as Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch aboard our vessels, ensuring safe operation of propulsion and auxiliary systems while on watch.
The role supports the Chief Engineer, requires STCW and USCG licenses, and involves shipboard duties, maintenance, and adherence to SMS and safety standards.
The Assistant Engineer is Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch and is responsible for operating and maintaining vessel machinery and systems. Assists the Chief Engineer with assessing vessel and systems performance, identifying malfunctions and their causes and determining and implementing solutions. Employees may be required to work non-regular workdays and shifts, as well as work and travel out of the area.

Performs duties and carries responsibilities, as outlined in the hopper Safety Management System, including all procedures listed for the position in SMS 6.3-1 Positions and procedures cross reference. Supervises the engine team and unlicensed engine personnel when leading a team preforming specific tasks.
Must be familiar with the Safety Management System (SMS) and follow procedures.

Employee must be able to met the following physical requirements for this position such as: Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on marine vessels in water. Able to safely execute duties in and around heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites. Able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, respirators, etc.)
