Job summary

Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department is hiring a Utility Maintenance Worker II to lead, train, and participate in the cleaning, repair, inspection, disinfection, and maintenance of sanitary sewage conveyance systems (gravity). Two years of related experience are required, with substitutions allowed for education or prior county experience.

A Class B CDL with tanker endorsement is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of sewage conveyance or treatment facilities.
• Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.
• One year of experience with Pima County as a Utility Maintenance Worker I.
• Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application.

Responsibilities

• Assigns tasks to crewmembers.
• Trains others in maintenance and inspection techniques.
• Informs the public of the activities of the repair and maintenance crews.
• Compiles and submits activity reports and logs.
• Operates specialized equipment, machines and vehicles (single and dual-function).
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on sewer lines, cleanouts, manhole structures and covers and wastewater pumping system facilities.
• Locates and removes blockages in sewer lines and manholes.
• Assists electricians in inspection and maintenance of electrical components of supported systems.
• Performs operator-level servicing, adjustment and maintenance of specialized tools, equipment, assigned vehicles and machinery.
• Clears manhole area covers and adjusts structures/covers.
• Performs routine operational checkouts on wastewater pumping systems.
• Stores, handles, applies and disposes of hazardous materials per MSDS.
• Applies and disposes of pesticides, disinfectants, and oxidizing agents.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and PPE usage.
• Establishes and maintains site traffic control/warning devices.
