The Bloomington and Normal Water Reclamation District is seeking a dedicated, full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our public service team in Bloomington, IL. Responsibilities include using SCADA systems, performing inspections and sampling, coordinating with a small team, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
  • Utilize SCADA systems and conduct process control testing.
  • Operate stationary and mobile equipment safely.
  • Perform routine inspections, laboratory sampling, and minor maintenance activities.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team while exercising sound judgment and effective communication.
  • Perform physical labor, including lifting 75 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Respond to emergencies during and outside normal work hours.

The Bloomington and Normal Water Reclamation District (BNWRD) is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Candidates with wastewater experience are encouraged to apply. Individuals with backgrounds in industrial operations, manufacturing, farming, equipment operation, mechanical maintenance, utilities, sciences, and field or laboratory work are also encouraged to apply, as many of these skills transfer well to wastewater treatment operations.

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Respond to emergencies during and outside normal work hours



Minimum Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Vocational or technical training is a plus

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Ability to obtain an Illinois EPA Class 4 Wastewater Treatment Works Operator Certification within two years of hire

  • Subject to residence requirements
