Job summary

Town of Gilbert in Gilbert, AZ seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor to lead a busy facility and mentor a skilled team. You will ensure safe, compliant plant operation and manage daily staffing to keep the plant fully covered.

You will oversee regulatory compliance, capital projects, and act as a liaison with ADEQ and EPA, delivering clear budget updates and operational guidance from the plant floor to leadership.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in wastewater treatment processes, including mechanical, chemical, and biological systems.
• Two years of supervisory or lead experience.
• ADEQ Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification at time of hire (or equivalent certification transferable to Arizona within 3 months).
• Arizona Class D Driver License required.
• Associate degree or technical certificate in environmental science, wastewater operations, or a related field.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Employment with the Town of Gilbert is at-will.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of specialized or technical training beyond high school
• Associate degree or technical certificate in environmental science, wastewater operations, or a related field
• Five years of experience in wastewater treatment processes, including mechanical, chemical, and biological systems
• Two years of supervisory or lead experience
• ADEQ Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification at time of hire (or equivalent certification transferable to Arizona within 3 months)
• Arizona Class D Driver License required

This position requires a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.

This position has been designated as a Medium work position that spends a majority of their workday in a field/hazardous environment.
