Assistant Field Operator - Wastewater Treatment

Description

Support and help monitor and maintain the equipment and processes essential for treating process wastewater. Candidate should have an unwavering attention to detail and excellent work ethic to help support operations and the drive to learn more about the water treatment process. Supports team members conduct skilled technical work operations of a wastewater treatment unit on an assigned shift, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under direct supervision from the Shift Operator and Supervisor.

Examples of Duties

  • Operate and monitor water treatment equipment and processes to ensure the delivery of treated water to client specifications as directed by the Shift Operator/Supervisor.
  • Retrieve water samples for analysis.
  • Ensures job site cleanliness.
  • Maintain accurate water treatment unit operations records, including daily logs, test results, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
  • Support routine maintenance and repairs on water treatment equipment, such as pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems.
  • Support team in response to emergencies or equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize disruption to the water treatment process and prevent any impact on operations.
  • Study and learn more about water treatment technology and regulations to ensure continuous improvement in plant operations.
  • Supports unit-wide area safety inspections and OSHA safety training sessions and investigates accidents.
  • Meets with the onsite operator/supervisor for operations planning purposes.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Licenses and/or Certifications:
    • Requirements;
      • High School/Diploma
        • Education: High School diploma or GED.
        • Work Experience: Entry-level position, however preference to candidates that have a minimum of two (2) years experience in "hands-on" water treatment operations.
    • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment practices, methods, and related equipment, including water testing equipment and safety precautions.
    • Some experience in operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
    • Interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
    • Ability to pass a red and green blindness test.

Work Environment:

  • Worker is exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme noise, odors, heights, dust, and hazardous materials.
  • Essential Physical Activities:
    • Walking, lifting, hearing, seeing up close, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, depth perception.
