Job summary

The City of Corvallis is seeking a Wastewater Reclamation Plant Operator to operate and monitor the wastewater facility, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient treatment. This full-time role includes shift work with a rotating weekend schedule and duties ranging from process control to public-facing information.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, an associate degree in wastewater technology, and relevant Class III experience, plus Oregon DEQ certifications II–IV

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• Three years’ experience in a Class III Activated Sludge Wastewater Treatment Plant.
• Specialized training to obtain Oregon DEQ Wastewater Operator certifications II–IV within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and controls plant operation to maximize treatment efficiency.
• Meets state regulations and performs shift duties with rotation for weekends.
• Responds to customer questions and provides information to the public.
• Responds to alarms and emergencies; maintains logs and reports per requirements.
• Entered data into databases; supports preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Assists with planning, budgeting input, and biosolids management coordination.
• Performs process control lab testing and analyzes results; supports safety and teamwork.
• Maintains professional conduct and adheres to policies and ethics.
