Job summary

The City of Joplin seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform routine wastewater analyses, record results, and help maintain lab equipment. The role supports regulatory reporting and quality control within the Public Works Department.

Ideal candidates will have a chemistry/biology background, lab experience, and the ability to manage data entry and reporting tasks with accuracy and safety in mind. This is an on-site, hands-on lab position with daily sample handling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biology preferred.
• Two years of full-time laboratory analytical testing experience preferred.
• Must obtain Missouri Class D Wastewater Operator's Certificate within one year.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily tests on wastewater samples to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Log results and prepare state and federal wastewater reporting data.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and test solutions as needed.
• Collect samples and conduct on-site analyses as necessary.
