Job summary

DC Water is seeking a Process Engineer II to support the Blue Plains WWT Plant, evaluating treatment processes and developing control procedures to optimize performance. Responsibilities include process studies, fault diagnosis, and guidance on safety and efficiency in operations.

The role requires a DC-licensed PE or eligibility, a ABET-accredited degree in environmental/chemical engineering, and at least five years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant practices and safety requirements.
• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in environmental/chemical engineering or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in wastewater treatment processes.
• DC-specific licensure requirements: DC PE license or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Support operations and process controls to meet NPDES permit requirements.
• Develop and implement process control strategies using PLCs, HMIs, and computer systems.
• Review drawings and specs for proposed changes and new facilities; analyze designs for efficiency and compliance.
• Troubleshoot complex process problems and optimize plant performance.
• Prepare technical reports and documents for internal and external audiences.
• Supervise and guide subordinates; plan work activities and training needs.
