Job summary

City of Kyle, TX is seeking a Wastewater Plant Operator to operate and monitor the 4.5 MGD wastewater treatment plant using an activated sludge process. Under general supervision, ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation; the plant runs 24/7 and is essential personnel.

You will prepare and maintain plant records, perform routine process control testing, handle lab data, and follow safety procedures, with a Texas Driver License required and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; advanced degree preferred.
• Texas Driver License required or able to obtain within 90 days.
• 1+ year experience in plant operations, sampling, lab testing, and equipment maintenance.
• Must obtain TCEQ Class D Wastewater Treatment License within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain plant operations and maintenance records.
• Maintain accurate records of samples, test results, and field-testing parameters.
• Perform routine process control testing for wastewater treatment.
• Read and interpret laboratory displays; record results accurately.
• Follow safety and security procedures and report hazards.
• Follow City policies and operational practices to support plant operations.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation using Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Maintain reliable attendance and report to the worksite as scheduled.
• Perform related work as required.
