City of Winter Haven is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee to gain hands‑on experience under supervision and advance to licensed operator status. The role offers extensive training, progression from C/B/A licenses, and a structured benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Possession of a valid Florida Class C, B, or A license or ability to obtain within two years.
• Must obtain C license within specified timeframe.
• Equivalent training/experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed operators in operating and maintaining wastewater facilities.
• Adjust valves and gates to regulate flow.
• Maintain operation records and read meters/gauges; perform basic arithmetic.
• Handle chemicals safely and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Operates trucks/tractors for waste disposal weekly; perform janitorial and groundskeeping tasks.
