Job summary

Smithfield is hiring a wastewater treatment operator in the United States, Iowa location. The role involves tending pumps and equipment used to decontaminate wastewater, collecting samples, and reading charts to identify malfunctions.

High school diploma or GED and 2+ years’ experience are required, with Class I Wastewater and Water Licenses or ability to obtain within set timelines. The position includes competitive starting pay ($25.95/hr) plus a $1.00/hr shift differential for 2nd shift,

Qualifications

• 2+ years relevant experience and/or training.
• Class I Wastewater License or ability to acquire within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Tends pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum filters and other equipment used to decontaminate wastewater by settling, aeration, and sludge digestion.
• Collects samples and makes process reports.
• Reads charts, flow meters and gauges to detect equipment malfunctions.
• In the absence of key personnel, can supervise or delegate tasks.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
