Job summary

The role requires a WA Level III Wastewater Operator License or the ability to obtain it within the stated timeframe and at least four years of relevant plant experience, with shift work

Qualifications

  • WA Level III Wastewater Operator License or ability to obtain through testing within 12 months or reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • Four (4) years of experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and data entry into maintenance systems.
  • Proficient in plant SCADA systems and software.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and sampling for plant operations and effluent.
  • Collect samples, conduct laboratory testing, and determine chemical dosing.
  • Prepare reports, maintain shift logs, and perform related duties as required.

As a Wastewater Operator II, based in Vancouver, WA, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services uninterrupted. You will perform a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.

You will contribute to the success of the program through effective preventive maintenance, establishing and maintaining sampling procedures for plant operations and effluent, and providing solutions to complex operational challenges. Responsibilities include diagnosing operating issues, making process control adjustments, and performing or directing necessary corrective actions.

Additionally, you will assist in preparation of reports, collect samples, conduct laboratory testing to determine appropriate chemical dosing, maintain shift logs, and perform all assigned and related duties as required. Perform all duties as assigned. Overtime to accomplish work may be required/mandatory. Shift scheduling is determined by need, and shift changes may be required to facilitate coverage.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • State of Washington Level III Wastewater Operator License desired or ability to obtain through testing within 12 months or reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Four (4) years of experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Proficient in the use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and to enter data into a maintenance management system
  • Proficient in the use of plant SCADA systems and software
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • State of Washington Level 3 Wastewater Operator License
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervision
  • Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems

The base salary range for this position is $70,200.00 to $84,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
