Job summary

City of Canyon seeks a Waste Water System Operator I to oversee daily operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment and collection facilities under supervision. Responsibilities include sampling, equipment maintenance, on-call duties, and ensuring safety; requires after-hours work, weekend shifts, and ability to respond within 20 minutes.

Valid Texas Class D and Class C certifications or ability to obtain them.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to work after hours or on weekends.
• Must be able to respond to calls within 20 minutes.
• Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair wastewater treatment and collection facilities and lift stations.
• Perform effluent pH and BOD sampling and testing.
• Perform force main and air valve cleaning.
• Service and maintain vehicles and equipment.
• Monitor and maintain treatment and irrigation facilities; collect readings; mowing and soil sampling.
• Handle on-call duties during weekly rotation; respond to telemetry within 20 minutes.
• Attend call-backs when needed per SOP.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain knowledge of operator principles and certification.
