Job description

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Type: Full-Time (hourly)

Description: Operation of a wastewater treatment plant providing excellent client services.

Pay: $18 – $20 (based on experience) plus extensive benefits

The Wastewater Operator I for New-Com, Inc. is an entry-level role responsible for the operating and maintaining of wastewater treatment plant equipment, monitoring processes, building and ground maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

This role involves safely, and efficiently operating treatment plant vehicles and stationary machinery as required, receiving material drop off from customers, maintaining daily and weekly reports for operations, elevating issues and concerns to management consistently, performance of routine maintenance and minor repairs on facility equipment and systems, following all O&M processes and procedures, and performing related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Operates wastewater treatment facility to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent; monitors gauges, meters and control panels, and observes variation in operation conditions
  • Operates valves and gates; starts and stops pumps, engines and electric motors to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
  • Monitors facility equipment and systems including valves, pumps, motors, tanks and gauges; adjusts equipment as necessary; performs skilled maintenance and minor repairs as appropriate; and refers major repair requirements to appropriate personnel
  • Maintains the facility in a clean, orderly and safe condition; and performs routine grounds maintenance work as needed, including painting and landscaping work
  • Safely and efficiently operates treatment plant vehicles, equipment and stationary machinery as required
  • Records data, operational actions and equipment readings
  • Adhere to all safety regulations due hazardous and physically demanding conditions
  • Performs related duties as assigned

  • Understanding of basic principles and practices related to the safe and efficient operation of a wastewater facility
  • Understanding of wastewater facility equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
  • Understanding of basic operation, maintenance and repair of various pumps and meters
Other Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, including a drug screen, fingerprint, background check and reference check
  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the United States
  • Regular, reliable, and responsive attendance during business hours and on call availability over weekends to address operational issues and emergency response service
  • Must be physically able to lift/move heavy bags, hoses and equipmentWork productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with key stakeholders individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively
  • OSHA, CDL, welding and other certifications a plus
