Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment checks daily and write daily reports.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and upkeep of all machines and equipment.
  • Monitor and replenish chemicals for cleaning sewage as necessary.
  • Maintain and update the plant log book and report inconsistencies.
  • Monitor boiler temperatures/pressures every 20 minutes during shift.
  • Monitor and record results every 15 minutes while processing water.
  • Utilize floor cleaning machinery to keep floors clean.

JOB TITLE: Wastewater Operator - Night Shift (6pm to 6am)


DEPARTMENT: EH&S


EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt


SHIFT: Night (6pm - 6am)


Objective: The Wastewater Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper and continued operation of the wastewater treatment functions of the facility.


Essential Functions



  • Perform equipment checks on a daily basis and write daily reports

  • Take samples, check measurements, and prepare reports

  • Perform preventative maintenance and upkeep of all machines and equipment

  • Monitor and replenish chemicals for cleaning sewage as necessary

  • Maintain and update the plant log book and report any inconsistencies

  • Monitor and record boiler temperatures/pressures every 20 minutes throughout shift

  • Monitor and record results every 15 minutes while processing water

  • Utilize floor cleaning machinery throughout the facility to keep floors clean


Education & Experience



  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 6 months of experience as a wastewater operator in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred

  • Mechanical Understanding

Work Environment/Physical Demands



  • This position works in a manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance on stair ways/ladders/elevated working platforms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    This position may work with hazardous materials where personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary and specific procedures must be followed to adhere to safety regulations.
