Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, biology or related field and two years of professional lab experience.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted.
• Two years as Laboratory Technician with Pima County may fulfill requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs sophisticated chemical and microbial analyses.
• Operates instrumental analyzers such as IC, AAS, GC/MS, ICP/MS and ICP/OES.
• Obtains water samples and records results.
• Prepares samples using chemical extraction/digestion techniques.
• Maintains records and reports; ensures data accuracy and integrity.
• Monitors lab data and oversees staff in training to validate results.
• Assists supervisors in SOPs and lab audits.
• Supports QA/QC to comply with licensure requirements.
• Follows safety procedures per Quality Manual and Chemical Hygiene Plan.
