Job summary

The City of Janesville, Wisconsin is seeking a Chemist/Biologist to perform chemical and biological testing of Wastewater and drinking water samples. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology and at least four years of laboratory experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

You will work under the Wastewater Superintendent, conducting routine tests, preparing reagents, and reporting results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, or a related field.
• Minimum four (4) years of laboratory experience.
• A valid, state-issued driver’s license at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine tests on plant flows, sludges, and other samples as directed.
• Collects and analyzes samples from industries in the Pre-treatment Program.
• Prepares standards and reagents used in the laboratory.
• Interprets data from atomic absorption.
• Trains Environmental Specialists and Lab staff in procedures.
