Job summary

The City of Modesto seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead its Wastewater Laboratory and Environmental Monitoring Program. You will plan, organize, and supervise staff and operations to ensure compliance with federal and state mandates, quality assurance, and accurate sampling, testing, and record keeping for storm water and pretreatment programs.

Qualifications

• Three years of laboratory experience with one year in supervision.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related field.
• Must obtain Grade II and Grade III Laboratory Analyst Certificates within specified timeframes.
• Valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct laboratory analysis and program administration.
• Supervise staff in Industrial and Water Quality Control sampling and testing.
• Prepare reports and monitor compliance with regulations.
• Assist in budgeting and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with Water Services Division and clients.
• Develop and maintain accreditations for lab submissions.
