Job summary

City of Wylie is seeking an Equipment Operator I to operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks and backhoes and to supervise field crews. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a Texas driver’s license within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Texas Driver's License required within 60 days of hire.
• Two years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment.
• Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management.

Responsibilities

• Operates dump truck, backhoe and other heavy equipment.
• Supervises daily work orders and leads crews in the field.
• Performs as a responsible steward of public trust with safe operations.
• Assists in repairs and maintenance of equipment.
• Works in trenches and confined spaces as assigned.
• Follows written and oral job instructions.
