Job summary

Fairfax County Government seeks an experienced Assistant Division Director - Engineering (Collections Branch) to lead a 22-person team in designing and constructing complex wastewater projects. The role ensures quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with capital facilities leadership and consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture required.
• Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in the engineering/architectural field, including two years supervisory experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Virginia Professional Engineer or Architect license required; reciprocity possible with Board decision.
• Criminal background check and driving record check required.

Responsibilities

• Leads branch in project management, design, and construction of complex wastewater capital projects.
• Oversees procurement activities forWastewater Design and Construction contracts; contract negotiations and bid evaluation.
• Prepares capital project budgets and cash flow projections; advises on budget issues.
• Manages personnel actions: hiring, hours, leave, evaluations and other staff matters.
• May assume division director duties and participate in emergency management.
