Job summary

The City of Manvel is seeking a working supervisor for the sewer collection system. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing wastewater infrastructure, operating vacuum trucks, and ensuring I&I identification.

You will supervise crew members and coordinate with the Utility Foreman on project status. The position requires on-call duty nights, weekends, and holidays, with night work during emergencies and inclement weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with all aspects of sewer collection system operation and maintenance.
• Class B CDL required or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair wastewater infrastructures.
• Must be on call as assigned on nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to work at night or during inclement weather and especially during emergency situations.
• Extensive knowledge on equipment operation (Excavator, Crane trucks, Vac-truck) is required.
• Operate and maintain lift-stations, pulling and de-ragging pumps, cleaning floats and pressure transducers
• Uses Vacuum truck to clean lift stations and manholes, jets sewer lines
• Makes repairs to manholes and riser rings
• Communicates with other workers in performing routine operations and maintenance.
• Reports to Utility Foreman and advises supervisor of job or project status.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is a working supervisory position which requires the crew leader to have extensive knowledge of the collections system. The position will supervise and assist the crew to install sewer taps, maintain Lift-Stations, operate the vacuum truck, and smoke test the collections system to identify inflow and infiltration (I&I) as well as responding to sewer line breaks. This position is on a mandatory rotating on call list. This Position will perform other duties assigned by the supervisor/department head as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Training and Experience:
• High school diploma or G.E.D is required
• Minimum of two years’ experience with all aspects of sewer collection system operation and maintenance
• Class B CDL required or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Some tasks involve the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) items
