Job summary

Jacobs in The Villages, Florida is hiring a Collections Operator to maintain and operate the municipal wastewater collection system, including pumps, lift stations, and gravity sewers. You will perform inspections, maintenance, and respond to emergencies, helping safeguard public health and environmental stewardship.

This role requires reading manuals, drawings, and procedures; strong communication and teamwork; and the ability to work outdoors in variable weather.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting operating manuals, drawings, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater collection systems, including gravity sewers, force mains, manholes, and lift stations.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Monitor and operate pumps, valves, controls, and related equipment.
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, backups, and service interruptions.
• Assist with sewer cleaning, flushing, CCTV inspection, and inspections.
• Complete work orders and regulatory documentation.
• Utilize CMMS and other operational technologies.
• Follow safety policies and environmental regulations.
• Participate in on-call rotations.
• Support team initiatives to improve performance and customer service.
