Job summary

GHD in Austin, TX is seeking a Waste Specialist to join the North American Waste Services Group. You will coordinate waste transportation, disposal, and compliance, performing hazardous waste inspections and preparing TSDF waste profiles.

The role involves data input, client communication, and contributing to project accounting. The ideal candidate has a related science degree with 2–5 years of experience and knowledge of EPA RCRA/TSCA/DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related science field (preferably chemistry/biology/environmental science).
• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience.
• United States EPA RCRA, TSCA, and DOT regulatory knowledge & experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate waste transportation and disposal subcontractors.
• Perform weekly RCRA hazardous waste inspections.
• File EHS activities and maintain records.
• Conduct waste characterization sampling and determine waste per RCRA regulations.
• Create waste profiles with various TSDFs.
• Manage waste requests under client contracts.
• Provide waste compliance and coordinator support to internal staff and clients.
• Input project data into a customized database for client reports.
• Coordinate with staff on waste management activities.
• Review and prepare accurate waste shipping documentation and manifests.
• Communicate with clients throughout all phases of waste projects.
• Oversee project accounting: proposals, cost estimates and purchase orders for waste transport and disposal.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Coordination/Oversight/Scheduling with waste transportation and disposal subcontractors
• Perform weekly RCRA Hazardous waste inspections
• Filed EHS activities
• Waste characterization sampling
• Make solid waste determination per RCRA regulations
• Create waste profiles with various TSDFs
• Management of waste requests in accordance with associated client contracts
• Provide waste compliance and coordinator support to internal GHD staff and external clients
• Input project data using a customized database to develop client reports
• Coordinating with GHD staff that are performing waste management and disposal coordination
• Review and preparation of accurate waste shipping documentation (analytical requirements, profiles, manifests)
• Proactively communicating with client during all phases of waste projects
• Project accounting oversight: Development of proposals, cost estimates & purchase orders for waste transportation and disposal

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor’s degree in related science field (preferably chemistry/biology/environmental science)
