Job summary

The City of O’Fallon is hiring a Service Route Operator for our Environmental Services Department. This essential role involves ensuring reliable solid waste collection while operating refuse trucks and conducting vehicle inspections.

Qualifications

• One to two years of relevant experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship.
• Ability to obtain a valid Missouri Class B CDL with airbrakes.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Operate refuse trucks to collect refuse, recyclables, yard waste, and bulk waste.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of vehicles and equipment.
• Assist with snow removal operations.
• Provide excellent customer service.

Skills

Knowledge of solid waste collection methods and equipment

Understanding of departmental procedures and safety regulations

Ability to read maps and understand city geography

Skill in operating refuse trucks and troubleshooting basic vehicle issues

Ability to complete assigned routes efficiently and safely

Education

High school diploma or GED
