Job summary

The City of Montrose is seeking a full-time sanitation collection operator to drive an automated truck on established residential and commercial routes, collecting waste and recyclables and ensuring timely deliveries to designated facilities. Responsibilities include performing daily vehicle inspections, keeping equipment clean, providing courteous customer service, and guiding residents on proper disposal.

Training lower level staff is also part of this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with specialized training in street construction/maintenance.
• Experience in public works operations and maintenance.
• Non-standard hours including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Drive automated sanitation truck on residential and commercial routes.
• Deliver collected material to designated facilities on time.
• Repair and replace trash/recycling containers, report needs to supervision.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and keep equipment clean.
• Provide courteous customer service and instructions on disposal.
• Explain service issues to customers and coworkers when needed.
• Operate small power equipment as required.
• Train lower level workers and seasonal staff.
