Job summary

The Planet Group is assisting a client in recruiting an entry level Project Manager to oversee operations at a large waste generator facility in Chicago.

Responsibilities include coordinating on/off activities for storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, ensuring EPA and local compliance, and supporting daily project tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; environmental experience acceptable.
• Experience working in a manufacturing organization is required.
• Positive customer service and social skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all on/off activities in relation to storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes per regulations.
• Segregate, sort and verify packaging for off-site waste shipments per EPA requirements.
• Perform daily equipment inspections prior to use.
• Clean and maintain the 180-day Accumulation Area, including labeling drums and ensuring proper closures.
• Assist with chemical spill response by placing adsorbents and containerizing cleaned materials.
• Assist Project Manager with daily supply delivery and waste pickup.
• Perform monthly SPCC inspections.
• Inspect waste storage areas and emergency equipment and take corrective action.
• Inventory and inspect Waste Spill Kits and refill as needed.
• Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in recycling and waste containers.
• Collect batteries and recyclables, sorting by DOT designations.
