Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Gate Attendant/Scale Operator at our Ridgeland, MS site to monitor waste volumes and collect appropriate fees. You will determine content, accept or reject loads, and ensure accurate billing.

The role requires cash handling, basic computer skills, and experience with balancing cash and receipts. You will document waste using scales and systems, answer inquiries, and keep the area clean.

Qualifications

• Experience handling cash and balancing receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.
• Ability to learn and operate scale/monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Determine content of material entering facility to properly bill the customer.
• Accept or reject waste loads and suggest alternatives based on waste type.
• Receive payments and provide receipts to customers.
• Balance daily receipts and deposit them into the safe depository.
• Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems.
• Notify operations of special waste and process required paperwork.
• Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
