Job summary

PeopleReady of Eau Claire, WI is hiring a Waste Collector to operate on a designated waste collection route. You’ll ride on the back of a garbage truck, guide the driver, and help with routine vehicle checks and maintenance.

The role requires lifting 50 lbs+ repeatedly, working in all weather, and passing a background check. Training and safety rules apply to ensure efficient, safe routes.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50lbs or more continuously during route.
• Able to work in inclement weather.
• Physically demanding work.
• Ability to carry, reach, bend, push, pull, and climb during route.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the back of a garbage collection truck, collecting solid waste on a designated route.
• Direct the driver when pulling out into traffic and backing up, and guide incoming vehicles to the dumping area at solid waste disposal facilities.
• Have knowledge of standardized work routines for manual tasks and the operation of collection vehicles in solid waste operations.
• Check the operating and safety conditions of vehicles, perform minor servicing, and report needed repairs or maintenance.
• Assist the driver with various tasks during waste runs and be able to lift 100+ lbs many times throughout the day.
• Be able to work in all weather conditions.

Pay Rate

The pay rate for this job is $18.75 - $18.75 / hour*

What you'll be doing as a Waste Collector
