Job summary

The City of Burbank, CA is seeking an Open Competitive Recruitment candidate to operate solid waste collection trucks on assigned routes and perform heavy manual labor in the collection, trucking, and disposal of refuse and recyclables.

Under supervision, you will maintain and safely operate equipment, respond to public inquiries, document field issues, and may supervise crews; a California Class B driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic laws involved in equipment operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Safe operations and safety precautions necessary in operation of solid waste trucks.

Responsibilities

• Operate solid waste collection trucks on an assigned route; pick up and load refuse and recyclables.
• Load, compress, and dump materials; drive to designated areas for disposal.
• Maintain vehicle; report needed repairs; answer citizen inquiries; keep records.
• May supervise field crews and participate in cross-training opportunities.
