Job summary

City of Laredo seeks a dependable Trash Collector to service residential areas, emptying containers into the truck and assisting in street maintenance. You will drive a City vehicle, inspect carts for damage, and coordinate with staff and the public.

A valid Texas driver license and good driving record are required, with ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. The role involves lifting, strenuous activity, and following supervisor directions while maintaining safety and professionalism

Qualifications

• Ability to lift medium weight objects.
• Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.
• Ability to perform strenuous and routine work.
• Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record.
• Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in the English or Spanish language.
• Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures.
• Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Empties containers into compactor on garbage truck.
• Operates hydraulic levers on the truck.
• Checks sidewalks and curbs to keep area clean.
• Inspects carts for objects that may damage equipment.
• Picks up trash and assists with street maintenance.
• Maintains communication with staff, visitors, and contacts.
• May drive City vehicle for City business.
