Job summary

The City of Sarasota's Solid Waste Management department is seeking a Probationary, full-time Truck Operator to support curbside collection and disposal services. You will drive a side or rear loading refuse vehicle, follow routes, and ensure safety and efficiency on every shift.

Minimum qualifications include one year of experience operating heavy waste equipment and a valid Class B CDL. This on-call role requires physical fitness, the ability to work overtime, and a professional public-facing

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating solid waste equipment.
• Possession of a valid Class B CDL is required.
• Ability to work overtime/on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operates a side or rear loading refuse vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Follows regular route schedules and collects authorized refuse.
• Reports maintenance needs and accidents immediately.
• Performs cleaning and fueling of the vehicle at shift end.
• Maintains weight tickets and records for each trip.
