About the College/Unit/Department The Washington Semester Program gives students the ability to intern full-time at an organization of their choice while still earning a full semester’s worth of credit hours. This program is non-major specific, so any undergraduate currently studying at the University of Georgia can apply. Students apply for and choose their own internships that can then be used as credit towards their undergraduate degree. While in Washington DC, students take two classes taught by UGA professors in DC; students take an elective class as well as a Washington Seminar. Each fall, spring, and summer term. the program seeks a program assistant who will play a vital role in the program. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to engage in research. internships and/or academic study in Washington, DC.

The Program Assistant for the Washington Semester Program is a part-time, live-in position in Washington. D.C. The person in this position will live in program housing and serve as the DC contact for emergencies and program-related matters.

The Program Assistant works with students, guest speakers, alumni, and the housing provider to ensure proper program operations. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Ability to effectively respond to a crisis situation.

Effective leadership skills to work with a group of approximately 32 undergraduates.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
