About the role

The Washington, DC based correspondent is responsible for covering breaking news, politics, health, business, international affairs, and major events like NPC, CPPCC, UNGA, US Elections, CPAC, etc. The correspondent must maintain a keen focus on and awareness of global news events with a focus on China, North and South America.

Responsibilities
  • Keep abreast of local, national, and international news events, especially as it relates to issues influencing news events in North and South America, as well as in China and Asia-Pacific.
  • Research, pitch, and set-up original story ideas for long and short form programming.
  • Write creative and strong reports for on-air broadcast and digital platforms
  • Post content on social media platforms
  • Deliver succinct and comprehensive news packages and concise live shots.
  • Strong reporting skills and ability to do lives with personality and professionalism including live interviews
  • Develop and maintain relationships with news sources
  • Collaborate with producers, editors, and photographers on assignments
  • Communicate clearly with director, planning and desk editors on daily and future plans
  • Easily adapt to other duties and responsibilities required by the Director of Newsgathering
Candidate requirements
  • College degree in mass communications or journalism preferred
  • Must have at least 5+ years network or major market on-air experience
  • Strong oral communication and broadcast quality writing skills
  • Exemplary on-air presentation
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong editorial news judgement
  • Able to deploy on short notice for breaking news
  • Able to multi-task and handle multiple tasks
  • Possess an understanding of and appreciation for a multi-national, multi-cultural work environment
  • Perform well in a high pressure, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to perform daily responsibilities swiftly, accurately, and comprehensively
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must submit reel with resume and supply references upon request
