Job summary
Samaritan's Purse in North Wilkesboro, NC seeks a WASH Electrical Engineer to join the International Water Unit. You will design, fabricate, and test electrical power systems including solar schemes for water collection, treatment, storage, and distribution, and develop BOMs and specifications for globally funded projects.
The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's in electrical or power engineering with 5 years of experience; international experience and PE credentials are strongly preferred;
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical or power engineering with 5 years related experience.
- Significant international experience and cross-cultural communication in ministry preferred.
- Professional engineer credentials strongly preferred.
- 12 credit hours of Biblical Studies; option to complete upon hire.
- Ability to design, build, test, and refine electro-mechanical systems including solar/hybrid power schemes.
- Experience in 3-D modeling software, such as Fusion360, SolidWorks, or SketchUp.
Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and test electrical power systems including solar schemes.
- Develop engineering drawings, reports, technical specifications, and BOMs for water systems globally.
- Liaise with technicians to ensure components built to engineering specification.
- Advise on the technical design and implementation of electrical power schemes for field projects.
- Provide technical support and backstopping for global WASH projects as needed.
- Review electrical aspects of project and donor proposals and reports for technical accuracy and feasibility.
- Support WASH disaster relief efforts, including deployment with DART and IMT as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

We are seeking a WASH Electrical Engineer to join our International Water Unit team in North Wilkesboro, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the role of WASH Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
- Design, fabricate, and test electrical power systems (including solar schemes) for water collection, treatment, storage, and distribution, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability in diverse contexts
- Develop engineering drawings, reports, technical specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs) for domestically-developed water systems and WASH infrastructure projects globally
- Liaise with technicians to ensure components are built to engineering specification
- Advise on the technical design and implementation of electrical power schemes for field projects
- Provide technical support and backstopping for global WASH projects as needed
- Review electrical aspects of project and grant proposals and reports to ensure technical accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with donor and organizational standards
- Support WASH disaster relief efforts, including deployment with Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DART) and serve on the Incident Management Team (IMT) as directed
- Other duties as assigned
As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical or power engineering as well as five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Significant international experience and demonstrated success in cross-cultural communication and ministry preferred
- Professional engineer credentials strongly preferred
- 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
- Ability to design, build, test, and refine electro-mechanical systems including solar/hybrid power schemes.
- Experience in 3-D modeling software, such as: Fusion360 (preferred), SolidWorks, or SketchUp.
