Job description

I. Job Summary
Develops a comprehensive, standardized warranty recovery process for WM at the field level. Acts as the voice of WM on Warranty matters pertaining to parts and tires for heavy equipment and heavy trucks.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Travels to vendor sites in MA, RI, NY, NH, CT; negotiates warranties for heavy truck and heavy equipment parts and tires.
  • Reviews warranty data, understands failure modes, and develops corrective action plans for high failure rate components.
  • Develops comprehensive, cost effective warranties for WM.
  • Develops processes to help identify warranty opportunity within Compass, the WM fleet management database.
  • Visits OEM manufacturing plants to review WM equipment, builds quality and helps ensure that our specifications perform as expected.
  • Instructs Fleet Managers on warranty coverage and recovery; assists Fleet Managers in discussions with local OEM dealers on warranty issues.
  • Sets warranty recovery goals applicable to all sites based on equipment age and replacement parts usage.
  • Builds a warranty calculator to assist warranty budgeting at the site level.
  • Collects monthly and quarterly warranty recovery data and creates reports for senior management at the Corporate and Group level.
  • Attends OEM warranty training for certification and to enter warranty claims on behalf of WM.
  • Provides purchase recommendations to WM senior management based on the level and quality of warranty.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • Experience: Seven years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement)
  • Preferred: Knowledge of heavy truck and heavy equipment parts, tires and warranties.
  • Preferred: Experience purchasing and negotiating heavy truck and heavy equipment parts, tires and warranties.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-Starter with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Working financial knowledge.
  • Ability to travel, (mostly driving), to various vendor locations in MA, RI, NY, NH, CT, etc.
