Job summary

Valdese Weavers is seeking a Warping Operator to prepare warps for slashing and weaving. You will operate sectional warping equipment, assist in creeling patterns, and ensure correct beam parameters while adhering to ISO 9001 standards.

Safety and accuracy are essential as you report quality issues and support loom teams. Extended hours and overtime may be required; a shift premium applies to 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Qualifications

• Creeling experience required; tending experience preferred.
• Basic reading, writing and math; ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to climb, reach, and bend; manual dexterity required.
• Must be able to drive a tow motor and obtain a license.

Responsibilities

• Operate sectional warping machine according to ISO 9001 work instructions.
• Assist in creeling new patterns and general creeling tasks when possible.
• Set parameters in computer to ensure correct beam run and check section width.
• Report quality problems to supervisor and maintain safety standards.
• Wrap beams, supply loom beams for warpers, and work overtime as scheduled.

As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.2nd and 3rd shift do receive a shift premium of $1.00. We offer a $50 attendance bonus for every two weeks in which you miss no time, not including our shutdown periods. This bonus would provide an extra $0.62 to your hourly rate.Job Summary: Make warps used in slashing and weavingEssential Functions:Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards:Operate sectional warping machine.Assist in creeling new patterns and in creeling in general when possible.Set all parameters in the computer to assure a correctly run beam.Report any quality problems to the supervisor.Make sure section width is correct on beam and on drum;Check the pattern before starting up the machine.Work with creeler/tender to pullover new warps. The tender pulls the warp over while the creeler assists with tight or crossed ends.Tie in new wends when warp is stopped.Doff sectional warper.Wrap beams in plastic and identify beams.Provide loom or section beams for warpers.Work scheduled overtime.Perform other duties as assigned.Safety:Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.Maintain 5 S standards.Qualifications:Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.Meet all pre-employment requirements.Basic reading, writing, and math skills with ability to read a tape measure.Creeling experience required and tending experience preferred.Manual dexterity with ability to tie a weaver’s knot.Ability to climb, reach, and bend.Ability to drive a tow motor and obtain a license – must have license.
