Job summary

Valdese Weavers, a 100% employee-owned textile producer, is seeking a Winder Operator for the 2nd shift. You will wind quality yarn packages, maintain efficiency per plant guidance, and report yarn quality issues.

Tools include a utility knife, scissors, knotter, and apron as part of standard ISO 9001 procedures. Responsibilities include packing yarn, labeling cones, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean, safe work area while adhering to safety guidelines and 5S standards.

• Ability to discern colors and shades.

Responsibilities

• Wind yarn onto cones for Weave Room.
• Maintain efficiency as determined by Department/Plant Managers.
• Report spindles making bad yarn to the fixer.
• Report bad yarn to the department supervisor/manager.
• Pack yarn in yarn bins at winder.
• Put color identification stickers in cones of yarn.
• Make the required quality checks.
• Keep winder area housekeeping in good order.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

## WINDER OPERATOR - 2nd shift - $18.02 - $16.40Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.2nd and 3rd shift do receive a shift premium of $1.00. We offer a $50 attendance bonus for every two weeks in which you miss no time, not including our shutdown periods. This bonus would provide an extra $0.62 to your hourly rate.**Job Summary:** Will wind quality packages of yarn for Weave Room. Maintain efficiency as determined by Department/Plant Managers.**Tools and Equipment used:** Utility knife, scissors, knotter, and apron.**Essential Functions:** Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards:* Maintain personal work habits, which meet the demands and stresses of the job.* Wind yarn onto cones for Weave Room.* Report spindles making bad yarn to the fixer.* Report bad yarn to the department supervisor/manager.* Pack yarn in yarn bins at winder.* Put color identification stickers in cones of yarn.* Make the required quality checks.* Keep winder area housekeeping in good order.* Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.**Safety:*** Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.* Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.* Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.* When cutting off a wrap-up, always cut away from the body and wear a Kevlar glove on the opposite hand.* Hearing protection in high noise areas as needed to do the job safely.* Follow the 5 S Standards as described in the Associate Handbook.## Qualifications**Qualifications:*** Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.* Maintain personal attendance practices to meet established company goals.Ability to discern colors and shades
