Job summary

Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. in Theodore, AL is seeking a Secondary Shipping Lead to join our Distribution Team. You will lead a hands-on shift, prepare furniture for delivery, review the To Do List, and ensure quality before items are loaded.

Training is provided on day one and you’ll work Monday–Friday, 8:00am to completion. The role requires lifting up to 150 lbs, collaboration with the shipping supervisor, and use of MDC to track tasks and delivery issues.

Qualifications

• Heavy lifting up to 150 lbs required.
• Must pass Criminal Background check, Lifting Assessment, and Drug Test.
• Good communication skills; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepare furniture for delivery and review the To Do List to ensure product quality before loading.
• Direct the team to meet production and quality standards with the shipping supervisor.
• Uncarton/unwrap furniture and inspect for defects and damage.
• Place items in the chutes and organize delivery order; update MDC with tasks and photos.

Pay

Starting $19.00 an hour

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00am to completion

This position involves physically demanding work, including the manual handling and movement of furniture. Forklifts are not utilized in the completion of these tasks.

This Is Your Opportunity To

• Prepare furniture for delivery by performing various duties.
• Review and work the “To Do List” by route to ensure the product meets our customers' expectations before it's loaded in the chute.
• Document training materials and special inspection instructions using MDC (MY Delivery Center) before any item is verified in the chute.
• Work in conjunction with the shipping supervisor to direct the team to meet Havertys' exception and productivity standards.
• Use MDC to review the team’s delivery exceptions and efficiently direct the team’s workflow.
• Uncarton/unwrap furniture and inspect for defects and damage.
• Place prepared merchandise in the chutes and organize the chutes in delivery order.
• Complete MDC “To Do List” and take/upload pictures to MDC as necessary.
• Maintain good working knowledge of MDC and meet production and quality standard goals.
• Properly handle and care for the furniture.
• Verify and reconcile chute inventory.
• Make decisions regarding reselects.
• Track damaged merchandise, take pictures of, and move both physically and with the scanner to the proper location.
• Maintain a clean and clear work environment, free from trip hazards.

Earning Opportunity

• Starting $19.00 an hour

Work Environment

• Warehouse setting: must wear proper Havertys-provided uniforms, steel-toed work boots/shoes required, safety gear when applicable.
• Monday – Friday, 8:00am to completion

Physical Demands

• Must successfully complete a physical assessment to be considered for the position.
• You must have the ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move furniture up to 150 pounds while loading and unloading trucks, properly handling materials, and wrapping and unwrapping merchandise.
