The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the state’s general fund. Our mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retailer compensation.

In fiscal year 2022-23, the California Lottery generated sales of approximately $9.2 billion with over $2.2 billion earned for California public schools. Lottery products are sold at more than 23,000 retail locations throughout the state. Product offerings include an average of 52 fun and entertaining Scratchers games and several draw games such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and SuperLotto Plus, and daily games such as Fantasy 5 and Hot Spot.

Job Description and Duties:

Under the direction of the Lottery Manager (Sales), the Warehouse Worker is responsible for performing duties related to the receipt, storage, inventory control, issuance of Lottery Point-of- Sale, and the processing of returned tickets from retail accounts. The Warehouse Worker is also responsible for assisting retailers with material requests and answering various routine inquires.

New to State candidates are hired at the minimum salary of the classification.

This position may qualify for $250, per month, in GEOGRAPHIC RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION PAY. This is additional pay, not included in the base salary.

Working Conditions:

a. Schedule: Work independently. This position performs work primarily in a standard warehouse setting.
b. Travel: Travel occasionally.
c. Other: Standard warehouse setting including potential for heat, cold, dust and/or other debris.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience assisting in the receipt, storage or issue of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safety protocols on lifting and carrying weight upward of 50 lbs.
  • Experience handling equipment (e.g., carts, forklifts, standup lifts, pallet jacks) used in receiving, storing, and shipping materials and supplies.
  • Ability to work in an environment that requires the incumbent be free from sensitivity to normal warehouse conditions including heat, cold, dust and/or other debris.
  • Knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records.
  • Understanding of basic mathematics operations for checking, counting, shipping, and tracking materials.
