Job description

Job Description

The Warehouse Worker is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling of merchandise into and out of the warehouse facility and to the train. The duties are performed within the designated warehouse area and support all warehouse operations as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assemble supplies and equipment requisitions for delivery to trains as per Amtrak's procedures.
  2. Deliver food, supplies, ice, linen, and other materials to trains.
  3. Pick inventory as instructed.
  4. Ensure proper stocking and accurate documentation of all inventory.
  5. Use inventory control procedures, including FIFO rotation, to minimize waste and spoilage.
  6. Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts.
  7. Load and unload products and materials from trucks and railcars.
  8. Transport products and materials to warehouse storage areas.
  9. Operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs) such as forklifts, tugs, carts, and pallet jacks, following safety guidelines and certification requirements.
  10. Maintain safety standards by following all SOPs and security procedures.
  11. Complete daily logs and communicate effectively with shift teams.
  12. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  13. Perform general warehouse tasks as assigned, including working in coolers and freezers.
  14. Utilize PCs, handheld computers, or similar devices for operations.
  15. Meet accuracy and productivity standards.
  16. Comply with OSHA, MSDS standards, and company policies.
  17. Maintain a professional attitude with colleagues, management, clients, and visitors.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive motion, overhead reaching, and working in extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of scanners and handheld devices.
  • Ability to push fully loaded warehouse carts.

This role involves physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
