Job summary

Doug Ashy Building Materials in Louisiana is seeking a warehouse associate to load orders for customer pickups, stock materials, and support deliveries. You will help keep the warehouse clean, operate forklifts, read a tape measure, and follow safety procedures to protect yourself and teammates.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Training and consistent schedules are provided to support growth within the locally owned company.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
• Outdoor work in heat, cold, and rain; follow PPE rules.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
• Team player with effective communication.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Available to work every other Saturday or as needed.
• Pre-employment drug screen; may be subject to random testing.
• Able to read a tape measure and operate forklift safely.

What You’ll Do

• Load orders for customers picking up at the store.
• Stock materials from incoming deliveries and transfers.
• Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized.
• Ride along and assist drivers with deliveries when needed.
• Let your supervisor know right away about any safety concerns or damaged equipment.
• Report missing, damaged, or incorrect inventory.
• Inspect forklifts daily before use.
• Fill out forklift maintenance checklists and turn them in.
• Help load and unload trucks for deliveries, vendors, and transfers.
• Put returned products back on shelves.
• Cut plywood and lumber to the sizes customers request.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager to support the success of the team and business.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
• Must follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are a must.
• Must be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Must be available to work every other Saturday (half-day) or as needed, based on business needs.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and may be subject to random testing.
• Must be able to assist with loading/unloading materials as needed.
• Professional attitude and good customer service skills when interacting with clients and team members.
• Able to read a tape measure accurately.
• Skilled in using power tools, including a table saw.
• Able to operate a forklift safely (forklift certification a plus).
