Job summary

Doug Ashy Building Materials is hiring a Full-time Driver – Chauffeur Licensed to safely deliver building materials to jobsites and customers in the Louisiana area. You will load, unload, and secure materials, complete delivery paperwork, and maintain logs while upholding safety protocols and excellent customer service.

The role requires a valid chauffeur license, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. 1–3 years of truck driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver building materials to jobsites and unload safely.
• Load and secure materials on the truck before departure.

• Maintain truck condition and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Assist yard personnel and customers as needed.
• Coordinate with dispatcher regarding deliveries, delays, or issues.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE at all times.

What You’ll Do

As a Driver for Doug Ashy, you’ll be the face of our team on the road and at job sites. You’ll safely deliver building materials, make sure everything is loaded right, and provide great service to our customers.

• Deliver building materials to jobsites and unload them safely and accurately.
• Pull, load, and secure materials on the truck before hitting the road.
• Make pickups as needed, including credits from job sites — restock materials properly.
• Complete all delivery paperwork to keep jobs running on time and organized.
• Maintain driver logs and delivery records per DOT regulations.
• Keep your truck in top shape — report any maintenance issues right away.
• Assist yard personnel and customers as needed — we’re all part of the same team.
• Communicate with the dispatcher about deliveries, delays, or issues on the road.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager to support the success of the team and business.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid Chauffeur’s license.
• Clean driving record with no major violations in the last 3 years.
• 1–3 years of truck driving experience required.
• Experience in the building materials industry is a plus but not required.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and physical evaluation.
• Ability to operate a forklift and assist with loading/unloading materials.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and handle other hands‑on tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather.
• Must follow safety protocols and wear all required PPE.
• Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a team player mindset.
• Dependable and on time daily.
• Available to work every other Saturday (half‑day) or as needed.
