Job summary

The Field Museum in Chicago, IL is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations within our on-site retail warehouse. You will supervise the warehouse team, delegate tasks, ensure accurate and efficient completion of duties, and collaborate with Retail locations to maintain stock and fulfill daily requisitions.

WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR

For more than 50 years, SSA has partnered with cultural attractions to design the hospitality experience journey, freeing our partners to remain mission-focused. We bring together admissions, culinary, and retail with innovation and human connection to shape a seamless guest journey. This isn’t your typical warehouse! Our small, fast-paced retail warehouse is located within the museum and directly supports our retail stores throughout the building. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the warehouse team, delegating daily responsibilities, and ensuring tasks assigned by the management team are completed accurately and efficiently.

Reports to: Warehouse and RetailOperations Manager(s)

Responsibilities

• Execute and delegate daily warehouse duties under the direction of the Warehouse Management Team.
• Supervise Warehouse Associates and assist with any calls that come through.
• Work with Retail locations to ensure they are properly stocked and fill daily rec orders.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
• Follow established control procedures for cataloging, inventory control, bulk storage and distribution of materials, equipment and supplies and assist in maintaining this supply system.
• Assist in receipt, storage and distribution of supplies and equipment in large, centralized warehousing operations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
• Perform other tasks as deemed necessary.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes (10-35lbs) as necessary to operation, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above.
• Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Previous Experience

• Warehouse/stock room leadership experience preferred.
• All education backgrounds eligible.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $20/Hr
• Eligible for overtime pay.
• Holiday pay of 1.5× the regular rate is provided for hours worked on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day.
• Paid sick leave is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Accrual rates, caps, and usage rules vary by location.

Locations include: Arizona, California, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, D.C.. Colorado: Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year, under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA). Maryland: Employees accrue at least 1 hour of paid sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per year, as required under the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act. Washington: Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked, in accordance with the Seattle Paid Sick and Safe Time.
