Hayes Company is hiring a Warehouse Utility Associate to support receiving, storing, and shipping activities at our Sandston, VA location. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and efficient material handling in a fast-paced warehouse.

Responsibilities include operating RF scanners, using stretch wrap, and maintaining clean work areas while meeting quality standards. Prior stand-up forklift experience and basic warehousing knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of warehouse experience.
• At least 1 year of stand-up forklift experience.
• Knowledge of basic warehousing, manufacturing, or shipping operations.

Responsibilities

• Load raw material or finished product on skid or hand truck.
• Keep shelves and workstations neat to maintain a safe environment.
• Operate basic warehouse tools and equipment as needed.
• Assist with product repair and sorting of new inventory.
• Report defective materials or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
• Follow safety regulations and OSHA guidelines.
• Support teammates to meet organizational goals.
• Bundle and secure goods for palletization.

Job Overview:

The Utility Associate is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and shipping products. This role ensures the efficient handling of materials, maintains inventory accuracy, and upholds safety and quality standards in the warehouse environment. This position is located in Sandston, VA.

We will be hiring for the following shifts:

• Monday thru Friday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
• Sunday thru Thursday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
• Must be flexible to work additional hours / days as the business requires.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

• Loads raw material or finished product on skid or hand truck.
• Preserves a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area and workstations neat.
• Uses tools such as hammers and crowbars to remove strapping and open crates/boxes.
• Assists with product repair.
• Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the work area supervisor.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Follows prescribed safety regulations and complies with all Company and OSHA Safety and Health rules.
• Proactively works to assist others in achieving the organization’s objectives.
• Strap and secure goods to pallet.
• Receives, inspects, and sorts new inventory with RF scanner.
• Operates, monitors, and troubleshoots a stretch wrap machine.

Required Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of related warehouse experience
• Must have at least 1 year of recent stand-up forklift experience
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing, warehousing, or shipping operations

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good math and written communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Work is primarily performed in a non-climate-controlled environment with moderate noise levels. Exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the day. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to perform repetitive motions. Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
