Job summary

Owens Corning Rockford IL is seeking a Warehouse Technician to move product from production to storage and load shipments for customer delivery. You will operate a forklift, use an RF Terminal, and stage material for efficient dispatch while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

The role requires basic math, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a High School diploma or GED. SAP experience is preferred but not required.

  • SAP experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Move product from production lines to warehouse areas.
  • Load shipments and stage material for pending orders.
  • Operate forklift safely and follow route sheets and SOPs.
  • Maintain housekeeping and a clean work area.
  • Read staging reports and record inventory movements in the WMS.

Summary

The role of a warehouse technician is to ensure that product is moved from the production floor and put away in the appropriate area of the warehouse while also loading shipments on various types of platforms for customer delivery. A warehouse technician is also relied upon to move material within the warehouse for consolidation of space and for staging of material for pending shipments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Able to move product from both production lines to the appropriate location in warehouse:

  • Use dual-front tire forklift to physically move units in to and around warehouse
  • Utilize RF Terminal to properly designate location of material within the warehouse management information system
  • Observe safety processes and procedures at all times

Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards:

  • Maintain a clean work environment through regular housekeeping and cleaning
  • Ability to utilize the in house floor scrubber to aid in cleaning.
  • Complete all housekeeping activities in a safe manner

Staging product for pending scheduled shipments:

  • Ability to read staging reports for product and quantity
  • Use forklift to move the appropriate material and quantity of product to staging area
  • Utilize RF terminal to properly scan said product to staging location
  • Complete all staging activities in a safe manner

Ability to fulfill shipments by placing them on various types of transportation platforms:

  • While observing safety processes and procedures, use forklift to place required product on to vehicle
  • Ability to generate and read paperwork and leverage knowledge of warehouse layout to efficiently load product
  • Utilize RF terminal to electronically record movement of inventory to order from warehouse information system.
  • Follow route sheets to understand where material is stored in warehouse.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to do basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience using a radio frequency terminal (commonly referred to as an “RF Terminal” or “scan gun”)
  • SAP experience is preferred but not required
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Work up to 12 hours in hot/cold manufacturing environment
  • Walk/stand on concrete floor continuously for up to 12 hours
  • Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel-toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) hearing protection and long-sleeved shirt (with shirt tail tucked in) as necessary for task
