Job summary

Graybar is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for the Wire Cutting Department in Maryland. You will supervise warehouse staff, manage wire cutting operations, and ensure accurate shipping and receiving while maintaining safety and inventory controls.

You will lead training, assign work, and coordinate with the Zone/Service Center team to meet service goals. A 4-year degree is preferred and 1 year minimum supervisory experience is required, with proficiency in WMS software.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse supervision experience.
  • 4-year degree preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 70 pounds.
  • Experience with wire cutting operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and perform activities of staff in loading/unloading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, wire cutting and inventory control.
  • Ensure accurate and timely customer service to meet service goals.
  • Lead training and assign work to two or more employees; advise on staffing decisions as needed.
  • Maintain equipment safety and security; ensure compliance with shipping specifications and PPE requirements.
  • Post weights and shipping charges; prepare bills of lading; oversee cycles counts and annual inventory.

Make a difference.As a Warehouse Supervisor - Wire Cutting Dept., you will supervise assigned warehouse operations including staff, security procedures, equipment utilization and Warehouse Management System (WMS) processes to meet or exceed zone/service center customer service standards.In this role you will:Supervise and perform activities of employees engaged in loading, unloading, selection, packing, shipping, receiving, wire cutting and inventory control; incoming and outgoing shipments; ensure efficient, accurate and timely customer service to ensure zone/service center service goals are attained. May also be required to assist in these activities as neededPerform supervisory functions, including training and assigning work to two or more warehouse employees on a regular basis; make recommendations regarding staff transfers, promotions, wage increases and terminations as necessary; arrange for additional help when neededPerform any and all physical requirements necessary to lift and move inventory around the warehouseOperate and maneuver warehouse equipment and any material(s) contained thereon in the manner consistent with the intended purpose of the equipment and the manufacturers' instructionsMaintain equipment, safe working conditions and security of merchandise and equipment; inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, security, and direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving dock to storage and work areaCompile records of unshipped orders; post weight and shipping charges; prepare bills of lading and various reports; perform or oversee yearly inventory and daily cycle count; participate on the Zone/Service Center Steering Committee; expedite special projectsWhat you bring to the table:Minimum 1 year experience required; 2+ years experience preferred4 year degree preferredAbility to perform the physical requirements necessary to receive, pick, pack, ship and move materials throughout the warehouse, including, but not limited to, standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, climbing ladders, cutting wire and lifting materials weighing up to 70 poundsAbility to operate and maneuver warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts and push carts, in the manner necessary to move materials and consistent with manufacturers' instructions and safety instructions.Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including the ability to perform physical requirements, adapt to seasonal changes, significant temperature variations and inclement weather conditions.Ability to abide by safety instruction and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or its equivalent is required.Knowledge of warehouse layout, operations and proceduresStrong knowledge of the WMS process: Must be a Super User of the WMS process and fully capable of teaching all aspects of system utilization; Ability to use the WMS system features to improve accuracy and efficiency of all assigned processesLeadership skills with the ability to effectively supervise staff and achieve results through othersOrganizational skills and time management skillsMathematical skillsStrong oral, written, communication, and presentation skillsWork Shift and Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm to start.
